Part 2: The Hidden Trap After Awakening - When the Ego Rebuilds Itself

After the initial disruptions of an awakening phase, the grief, confusion, disconnection seems to hold you in a space of stagnancy and trepidation. Meanwhile, something else begins to unfold beneath the surface.

And this is where the journey becomes more subtle. Because what feels like emptiness is not actually empty: It’s activation!

You’re Not Empty - You’re Opening

When your system has been shaken open by awakening, something new begins to move through you. Energy that was once suppressed through pain, conditioning, or self-protection, starts to rise. Parts of you that were buried, ignored, or inaccessible begin to come back online.

This might include:

  • desires you never allowed yourself to feel

  • aspects of your purpose that were previously out of reach

  • creative or expressive energy that had been shut down or ignored

  • deeper emotional layers that were never fully processed

So what you’re experiencing is not a void. It’s a kind of internal expansion that hasn’t yet been fully lived or expressed. This “hollow” space is actually priceless fertile ground.

The Sacred In-Between

If you can stay with this phase (without rushing to fill it) you begin to access something powerful. In it reveals a new way of creating, a new relationship with your own energy, and a deeper sensitivity to what is truly aligned for YOU.

But this requires one magnanimous effort. And it is quite a paradox, too: the effort is “surrender”. Not forcing clarity. Not rushing into decisions. Not trying to immediately define who you are becoming. Instead, allowing the experience to deepen. Because what is trying to emerge cannot be accessed through control. It unfolds through presence. And when I say surrender, I do not mean to imply that you are surrendering your free will to a force outside of you to save you! To surrender is to release the controlling aspect of your ego-mind so that your inner wisdom, your higher self, can come through and alignment happens naturally. Then, what will move the dial so you get closer to your desires becomes effortless.

The Most Dangerous Phase: False Completion

This is where many people unknowingly step off the path. When the discomfort of this openness becomes too much, the mind looks for relief. And often, it finds it by constructing a very convincing illusion:

“I’ve arrived.”
“I’ve figured it out.”

“I’m a spiritual person”
“I’m fully aligned now.”

BUT, this is actually a false completion. It feels like certainty. Like clarity. Like control. Because it is such a relief from where we’ve been before, so we are quite convinced we’ve “made it”. But underneath it is avoidance.

Instead of staying with the depth of what is still unfolding, the ego steps in and creates a version of “being done” to escape the discomfort of not knowing.

How to Recognize It

This phase can be subtle, but there are signs:

  • a sense of being “above” the process

  • believing there is nothing left to uncover or feel

  • seeking only what feels good, avoiding what feels challenging and calling all of it discernment

  • creating a polished identity around being awakened or healing

  • and sadly, losing contact with the raw, human, emotional depth of the experience

In this phase of expansion, nothing is wrong. This is your subconscious operating in a background level to maintain you. Meaning, it is protective.

But, if you stop here, it has pulled you away from the very thing your awakening is trying to open within you.

The Work Is Not to Escape the Feeling

The invitation here is not to fix, clear, or bypass what you’re experiencing. It is meant to be FELT. To be experienced. For it is in doing this that an alchemical process is in full bloom!

To gently turn toward what is still uncomfortable, unresolved, or even confronting.

You can ask yourself:

  • What am I still avoiding feeling?

  • What part of me feels too uncomfortable to fully face?

  • What truth am I not quite ready to embody yet?

  • What is asking for my love?

These are not questions to simply answer or to analyze. They are doorways and what is held beyond them is a resistance where your deepest expansion lives.

Reclaiming What Was Suppressed

As you stay present with yourself, something begins to reawaken: stored energy. Emotional disappointments, hurt feelings, unfulfilled expectations, martyrdom, guilty pleasures, and the like remain in the energetic field in the scaffolding of your body. The body never forgets, and it does whatever it takes to expeditiously manage those situations to the best of its ability. If we or our caregivers/circle of influence are not aware enough to assist with the movement of these things, they remain within the energetic realm governing our physical-ness.

These are not just emotional-based. This can be creative, expressive, even primal life force energy that may have been shut down for years.

For many, this includes:

  • creative impulses

  • sensual or embodied energy

  • authentic expression that once felt unsafe

  • emotional depth that was previously muted

These parts of you were not lost forever. They were simply protected by the intelligence of the body that had to survive in the moment.

And today, they are returning.

From Numbness to Aliveness

Eventually, the earlier phase of apathy or “greyness” begins to shift. Not because you forced it to, but because you stayed present long enough for something deeper to come through. Dedication to yourself with patience and compassion reassures your nervous system it is safe and what once felt cold begins to warm. What once felt distant begins to feel alive again.

But this aliveness is different because it’s not driven by some external stimulation - it comes from within.

Your New Inner Compass

One of the most important shifts in this phase is the revealing of your internal guidance system. It is not that it is “new”. Your higher self, soul-thread, connection to Source-God has always been there, in absolute perfection. This process is that you are in is the remembering of that.

The RE-MEMBERing.

So, you begin to observe that what once motivated you no longer holds the same pull. And you recognize that it is not dysfunction - it’s intelligence.

You have a sense of:

  • disinterest

  • lack of excitement

  • or even resistance

But this your higher intelligence guiding you away from what is no longer aligned and what cannot support the more expanded octave of energy that has been integrated.

You are, in a sense, operating on a completely new internal “software” and your old desires, habits, and patterns can no longer match it.

The Real Invitation

This phase is not about rushing forward or structuring your next 10-year prospectus.

It is, however, about learning to:

  • trust what you’re feeling

  • stay present with what’s emerging

  • allow your energy to reorganize itself

  • and begin listening to a deeper, more honest signal within you

Because from here, something entirely new begins to take shape. And it does not come from force, but from Truth.

In Part 3, we’ll explore how to begin living from this new awareness without abandoning your life, sabotaging what you’ve built, or falling back into old patterns.
